Frequently asked questions

How do you play House of Gods: Chowka Bara?

Players move their pawns around the board according to their cowrie-shell rolls, following the designated path toward the central Moksha Point.

What do Chowka and Bara mean in Chowka Bara?

A roll of four mouths is called Chowka and allows four steps plus a bonus turn. Four humps are called Bara and allow eight steps plus a bonus turn.

Can you capture another player in House of Gods?

Yes. Landing on an opponent’s active pawn captures it and sends it back to its starting house. A successful capture also gives the player an extra turn.

What are Tollu and Gatti pawns in Chowka Bara?

When two pawns from the same family occupy the same space, they become Tollu pawns. Certain rolls can strengthen them into Gatti pawns, which can move normally and block opponents.

What happens on the special spaces in House of Gods?

Special spaces can provide advantages or setbacks. Dharma Points are safe spaces, Blessing Points provide bonuses, while Chakravyuh and Curse spaces can affect a player’s progress.

Do you need to capture an opponent before reaching Moksha?

Yes. At least one member of your family must capture an opponent during the journey before the pawns can successfully complete the journey to Moksha.
